Resignation, repudiation, rhetoric

Prof Hal Lewis
One of the reasons I find the 'there is a consensus, the science is settled' mantra so hollow is that there are very distinguished scientists who don't agree that the science is settled.  (There are other reasons - like the science!)

Last week I quoted Professor Richard Lindzen.  This week I will quote the resignation letter of Professor Hal Lewis from the American Physical Society(APS).  Both are very distinguished scientists.  You can find Professor Lewis' devastating letter here but if your time is short please read the following excerpts:

  • It (the global warming scam) is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist
  • APS management has gamed the problem from the beginning, to suppress serious conversation about the merits of climate change claims
  • I want no part of it, so please accept my resignation
That was the resignation.  Here is the repudiation.

At the heart of the drive for policy measures to prevent 'catastrophic anthropogenic global warming' is the work of Professor Michael Mann who wrote this in the Washington Post last week. It is extraordinary hubris.  Here is a partial but powerful repudiation of Mann's article.

I have this week signed up for the rhetoric of the Scottish Government's Sustainability Network Conference which takes place in my ward on 4th November at Dynamic Earth, in Edinburgh.  This is the public delivery end of the policies which derive from Professor Michael Mann's science - which may be what Professor Lewis is referring to when he talks of a "most successful pseudoscientific fraud".

So I plan to attend and report.

  1. MSM will try to keep this quiet just like last week's global warming scandal.

If you aren't familiar with the 10:10 dust up, see the videos below.

While watching the first one, ask yourself if it's sincere or if 10:10 is being pranked on by skeptics.

Keep watching until you're sure, and then watch more.

Note: the resignations of Chris Landsea and Roger A Pielke SR. both hint at conspiracy.

Landsea resigned because of an unethical press conference that was likely used by Al Gore as a green light to build his movie around Hurricane Katrina.

Pielke resigned because while lead author for a major climate report, scientists worked behind his back to undermine him. These incidents are well known and not hard to research.

Even if you are familiar with the 10:10 thing, there's a variety of over the top eco stuff in the playlist.
